Who can enroll?

Our program is open to anyone 15 years or older with a valid learner’s permit. Whether you’re a teen driver, an adult learner, or a first-time driver, we’re here to help you gain the skills and confidence you need on the road. Rauch Driver’s Training Steps 

1. Pay online or in-person. You must make an appointment to enroll in-person by calling 812-945-4063 or emailing drivers-ed@rauchinc.org. When paying in person, Rauch will accept checks or money orders ONLY. There will be a $35.00 charge for any checks that are returned for insufficient funds.

2. Enroll online *Student must be 15 years of age to register

 3. Take Certificate of Enrollment from Rauch to BMV for the permit test.

Students must bring two forms of ID, such as Birth Certificate and Social Security Card, plus two proofs of address. (Eg. Report card, bank statement, doctor or dentist statement, utility bill in your name).

4. After obtaining permit, student will log 50 hours of driving with parent/guardian or other acceptable family member. Must complete log of Supervised Driving Practice form.

  • 34 hours of daytime driving

  • 10 hours of nighttime driving

  • Six hours driving with the instructor

  • 30 HOURS MUST BE LOGGED BEFORE SIX INSTRUCTOR HOURS CAN BE SCHEDULED.

5. Complete the online course within 6 months of course enrollment…check your contract.

6.  Immediately upon completion of the online course, submit the Certificate of Completion to drivers-ed@rauchinc.org or fax to PLEASE PROVIDE FAX NUMBER. (812)949-0830

Students will not drive with the instructor until after

1.       The online course is completed

2.       Proof of 30 hours of supervised behind the wheel driving is received (driving log).

  • Keep a copy for yourself; you will need for BMV

6. Instructor will contact the student when it is their turn to drive with the instructor.

7. Instructor completes Driver Training School Course Permit; gives to student to take to the BMV to take skills test, or student takes the skills test with the instructor for $35.

8. Student must take to the BMV:

  • Driver Training School Course Permit form

  • Certificate of Course Completion

  • Log of Supervised Driving Practice

  • Student's Learner Permit

9.  Student must be at least 16 years and 90 days old and have held a driver’s permit for 6 months to obtain driver’s license.

10. Student receives Drivers License with a probationary period (see Teen Driving Privileges in the Driver’s Manual)
