The vision of the Imagine Awards is to celebrate those who are committed to making a better community and world for people with disabilities... "A Community Where Everyone Belongs." Proceeds from the Imagine Awards event benefit the Rauch Foundation.
At the event, three awards are given. These awards recognize:
- Accomplishments of individuals with disabilities
- Volunteers/community leaders who have worked to benefit/advocate for individuals with disabilities
- Organizations/corporations which have worked to help individuals with disabilities.

2011 In-kind Sponsors Accuprint Congratulations to the 2011 Imagine Awards Winners! 2011 Imagine Award for Individual with a Disability: Thomas J. Klein Thomas Klein’s neck was broken in a swimming accident at age 15. The accident left him a C-6 quadriplegic, paralyzed from the chest down. Tom had previously envisioned himself in a career that used his hands, such as a musician or mechanic. Instead, he refocused his determination toward a highly successful career in information technology. Through his most recent ambition, Tom has given back to the community through the development and facilitation of seminars on freedom and confinement focused on empowering the prison population. 2011 Imagine Award for Community Leader/Citizen/Volunteer: Steve Hines Schuler Bauer real estate professional Steve Hines has tirelessly advocated on behalf of individuals with disabilities. Steve, a father of two daughters, faced a personal dilemma regarding who would one day care for one of his daughters, who has autism. This dilemma became a vision to provide high-quality, integrated housing for adults with disabilities. Steve was instrumental in bringing this vision to fruition through the construction of Rauch's housing development in Hawthorn Glen subdivision. 2011 Imagine Award for Business/Employer of People with Disabilities: Life, Inc. Since 1964, Life, Inc. has sponsored recreational activities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. These programs include arts and crafts, dances, and gardening. Their primary effort, provided under the tireless leadership of President Rita Renn, is the Special Gardens for Special People program at Mount Saint Francis. It involves numerous groups of individuals with disabilities, teaching gardening skills and providing an opportunity to enjoy fresh air and fellowship.
