About Healthy Families:
Healthy Families is a parent support program designed to assist families, who are expecting or have just had a baby, adjust to parenthood. We do this by providing support, encouragement and information to the families we serve.

The Healthy Families program is made available to all parents (new and expectant) in Indiana at no cost to the families.  We are a voluntary program and look forward to being able to provide you with the services you need. Call us today!

• All children need and deserve the love of their families just as parents need support and encouragement as they care for their children.
• Parents are the experts of their family’s needs and are best at deciding which programs and services can assist them most.

Healthy Families Offers:
Healthy Families Floyd County offers two different services.  We begin by offering an initial visit (in your home or at our office) with families who are expecting or have just had a baby.  We strive to meet with all families before or shortly after the birth of a baby to gather information about your family which helps determine what services in the community might benefit the needs of your family.  We like to think of ourselves as the baby welcome wagon – complete with a free gift!

Some families may be linked to our second service – a home visitation program designed to provide support, encouragement and information to families who are expecting or have just had a baby.  We offer:

• Practical information about how to recognize what a baby needs.
• Support in learning to balance caring for a baby’s needs and the parent’s needs.
• Information on what to expect as a baby grows.
• Information on how to make a home safe for a baby.
• Activities and support on how to encourage healthy child development.
• Information on community resources that may benefit your family.
• Support for such issues as budgeting and finances, transportation, education, employment and parenting skills.
