Each person who attends the ACCESS and Adult Developmental Activities (ADA) programs experiences a wide variety of activities that enhance their personal and social lives. Participants gain knowledge in daily living skills such as cooking and personal hygiene, increase social skills, express themselves through arts and crafts, and have access to a variety of educational activities.

ADA and ACCESS are person-centered programs. This means that each person gets to participate in the program aspects he or she chooses. The activities and curriculum are varied, individualized, and goal-oriented to encourage each individual to live a full, meaningful life at their highest potential. Some may love to work in the art studio while others prefer going on community outings and helping others through activities such as delivering Meals on Wheels to the homebound.

The ADA and ACCESS programs differ in the types of services and care required by participants. ADA is designed for adults who have been diagnosed with the most significant disabilities, which could be physical, mental, and/or behavioral. ADA clients participate in activities to build skills including creating artwork, learning to use eating utensils, and establishing good behaviors. ACCESS is designed for adults with less severe disabilities. These individuals take part in full-day and half-day trips to local museums, attractions, parks, and retail establishments. Small group and one-on-one community activities help strengthen the participant's ties to the community and give them the opportunity to speak and act on their own behalf.

What parents are saying:

"My son goes to the grocery store, library, YMCA, park and other places. He would rather go with ACCESS than with me."

"The services to learn more about the community have been a tremendous help to our everyday life. We can now attend public events and eat out with little anxiety. This was a difficult task for the coaches to achieve with our son from my own personal experience."

"It has made it so much easier for our family to take our son out in the community with us. He is more relaxed and can enjoy family outings. His behavior is much more predictable and he knows how to behave in a social environment."

"I am very impressed with the way my daughter is eating with her fork, following requests better, and understanding what is requested of her."

"I appreciate everything that Donna retains from Rauch, and I still find her learning more even at her age of 46, even if it seems minimal to others."
