Adult Developmental Activities
Adult Developmental Activities serves adults who are diagnosed with the most significant disabilities. These disabilities can be mental, physical, behavioral or a combination of all.
The clients who attend ADA have a variety of residential settings. Some live at home with parents or other family members. Others are residents of local group homes, some reside in Supported Living arrangements, still others reside in local nursing homes. Transportation to and from the program is usually provided by the family or residential provider.
Day program services begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. weekdays only. Clients are responsible for providing their own food, personal items, and transportation. Very limited transportation is available to Floyd County residents, if funding is available. Some clients utilize TARC. Most clients attend full day sessions, five days each week, but it is possible to attend on a more limited basis, if needed.
Funding for day services is diverse. Most clients utilize funds from their Medicaid Waiver. Those clients living in group home negotiate with Rauch, and the group home company is responsible for funding. If a resident of a nursing home is interested in day services, they may be eligible for OB RA funds. (State monies).
The curriculum for the day is varied and individualized. Curriculums are goal-oriented to encourage each client to live up to his/her highest potential.
Seeing the clients and staff in the midst of their daily activities is the best way to learn more about our services. The ADA staff and clients invite you to visit the ADA Program located at Fairmont Neighborhood Center, 2525 Charlestown Road.
