ACCESS
ACCESS is a community support program which is designed to assist individuals in making informed decisions and help them to become more independent and valued contributors in the community. Persons who attend ACCESS experience a wide variety of activities that are designed to enhance their personal and social interactions, based upon their desire, preference, and need. Services are offered during regular business hours and during alternative hours. Community Support Specialists assist the participants in locating activities of interest, increasing social skills, daily living skills, arts and crafts, educational experiences, personal hygiene, and emergency support services. These activities are designed to take place in the most natural, meaningful, and least intrusive manner.
Participants with ACCESS also experience:
- Creating and strengthening their community ties.
- Appreciating diversity in their community.
- Respecting the opinions and rights of others more fully.
- Speaking and acting on their own behalf, as individuals, about their own lives, dreams, independence, and about ways to contribute to the community.
- Volunteerism.
- One-on-one community activities.
- Small group community activities.
ACCESS also offers the following creative program features:
- ACCESS services are available during alternative hours.
- Services are provided to persons who receive Medicaid Waiver and Title XX Funding.
- Emergency Support Assistance is readily available to persons in need.
